Rules: The rules are the same as laid out for the RMT Chiefs inter-squad tournaments. Three 25 minute run-time periods, 3 minute run-time penalties. Refs control the game and have the right to toss whoever they see fit to be tossed. If the game ends in a tie, teams will go to a shootout.

Money: If you are playing in six games of the tournament, you pay 60,000 won up front (Sunday July 8). Or, you pay 15,000 won per game if you cannot pay upfront or you think you will only be playing part of the tournament. Please make every effort to have your money the first game, or you will be asked to pay on a per game basis. If you pay up front you save about 30,000 won.

We're playing the Ilsan Eagles on their home ice Sunday (July 1st)morning at 10 am. We also have our regular ice time on Sunday at 10am in Mokdong.
If you wish to play in Ilsan, please leave a comment here. Many Chiefs will be playing regular shinny in Mokdong, so the rest of the team to play Ilsan will be made up of INCHON players. Get it? The Ilsan team has asked us for a re-match. Last Sunday the game came down to a last second slap shot from Geddes for the win. Fun had by all!!

Now, 15 players signed up for the last game and 19 showed up. Not cool. So from now on, the only way to sign up for these games is to do it through this site on THIS post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more emails! No more phone calls! This will centralize the organizational process and, in theory, should make it easier for everyone to get in on these games.

Summer Hockey

To all Chiefs,

There are a few whispers flowing around the Seoul rinks these days concerning some Fabulously Superb Seoul Summer Sizzler. Clay "the Mack-Daddy" Jannsen, who has moonlighted with the Chiefs since our natal years, has presented a tourney concept to the tribal council and it seems to have received a favorable response.

The idea is to have players from the Chiefs, the Glaciers and the Iceholes entered in a massive draft. As Clay put it, “each team would make an honest assessment of the skill level of each player prior to the draft. Also, the draft picks would have to be rotated between the 3 teams (i.e. if a captain picks a Chief, his next pick must be an Icehole or Glacier)”. The games would be split between Mok-Dong, Anyang and maybe Korea University. It would start in July and end in August.

As everyone who has been here in the summer knows, our numbers dwindle to miniscule proportions. This tournament is a great idea to keep the team afloat over the long summer months.

Wednesday Start Up

Hey Chiefs,

As everyone should know by now, our Wednesday ice times start at 9:30pm and end at 11:00pm . We have booked a solid hour and a half of ice time but, if you subtract the ridiculously slow zamboni run and the unnecessarily long warm-up, we are left with less than one hour of ice time.

Let's maximize our ice time!!!

This Wednesday the warm-up will be shortened and the pick-up session will begin at 9:45pm. That's 15 minutes no matter what. As always, the zamboni will start its run at 9:30 and end at 9:40. That will give everyone 5 minutes to warm-up. Please note that everyone does include goalies. if goalies are not there then it's posts 'till they show.

Daejeon- Chiefs 9 DC Moose 6

Well I know most of you have been eagerly awaiting a report on the Chiefs successful trip to Daejeon. I've been kinda lazy this week and with T-bones bar opening up I spent too much time there drinking San Miguel than putting up a write up oh well what you can do. As most of you know the Chiefs were kindly invited by the boys from the DC Moose (Daejeon/Cheonju) to come down and play them in their inaugural game. Seems like we've been doing that a lot lately.

After a painful organizing process on my part (which i don't know if i ever will do again) we went down to play them. The game wasn't until midnight so after getting some rooms the chiefs split up to see what Daejeon had to offer.. well not much really but the women were hotter and nicer than you'd find in Seoul but that's about it. After some food and beers the Chiefs hit the ice against the moose determined to win.

The game went well and it was a lot of fun, Geddes had 4 goals, Scrawny Corey had a goal and i'm not sure who else had them.. the other team did suffer from some injuries when Donnie "Ball Buster" Caldwell let one rip only to hit the goalie square off the jock. The game was immediately halted whilst the goalie layed on the ice in agony. But alas, he got back up and played a good game shutting out Corey on a lot of shots.

No game would be complete though without an injury from our own ringer Geddes. Any chiefs who has played more than one game with Geddes knows that when he stops with the puck you move or risk taking a puck somewhere off your body. The moose on the other hand didn't know and one guy took one off his skate and broke a bone in his foot. No hard feelings were held after all how could he have known?

There will be a rematch that will be set up for the 22nd or 29th.. to be fair to them I'm thinking of only having 2 full lines not 3. They can only muster 2 when they combine their two cities so in interest of fair play i'm thinking of capping it at 2, we'll see what develops stay tuned to the blog.

Thanks to Ken and the Moose for having us down and thanks to the people who stuck by their commitments the 1st time for going to Daejeon going from 3 full lines to 2 on the day I was going to buy tickets was not a happy day to put it in nice words...

Beer o'clock is now open, i've dropped a few won at T-bones and Mi Young's new bar and was glad to see a few chiefs popping in to have some beers. It's time we payed back some of the gratitude that T-bone and Karl have put into organizing our team.. after organizing Daejeon I can now say I know how they feel and they organize a team, I just organized one game.. anyways, let's go and support T-bone and Mi Young... Grand Opening is at 6 ish tomorrow hope to see the place packed!

Next weeks IIHF, should be some interesting hockey. I have been talking to the rink man, but he's not sure on ticket prices yet, should know on Wednesday. My guess is that they won't be more than 10 000 won. My real guess is that they'll be 5000.

DAEJEON- Chief's Road Trip #3

Alright folks, I've arranged a game for Saturday, March 31st down in Daejeon. We will play Midnight to 2 am (best time they could get for a Sat. night) We will take the KTX down on Saturday from Seoul Station it's only an hour from Seoul. What I need to know is who is going. They have booked the ice time for that date and time.

updated: Chief's win 1st Annual Pot of Gold Challenge

The Chiefs pulled off a great victory this past weekend in Daegu. The final score was 8-5 with goals coming from Steve Hawkins,Aaron Geddes,Karl,Craig(2),Lee Wong,Michele and Lexi. A really good team game and a really good battle.

In a freak collision behind the net, Spark managed to break his leg in two spots. He was sent back to Seoul by ambulance and remains in the Soon Jung Hyang, Hanam hospital, room 819. He doesn't need surgery and will be getting out this Saturday. He will be ok.

I'd like to say thank you to the Daegu Thunderbirds for another well hosted game. Every time we play it is a battle and a tight game. Those who went down on Friday had a good night I know and I hear Saturday was a BLAST. Some getting in around 8 am..ouchy

I'm sure there will be no problem filling a roster to go down again at some point. I think it's time to host them though. It'd be great if we could get a Saturday evening or even Saturday morning ice time.

Chiefs come to a 3-3 tie with the IceHoles

It was a record breaking, fast filled roster that showed up to Mokdong on Sunday to take on the Inchon Ice Holes. After many Chiefs collected their winnings from bets that Spark would not show up, we took to the ice.
We came out Strong with the first goal coming from Steve the Hawk after a very nice pinch. After what I think was a tipped shot in from Lee Wong, we were quickly up 2 -0. Claude kept the shut out for a good part of the first period and made some key saves through out the game.
Late in the 1st, Inchon managed to get on the board. After a breather, and hitting the second period, Inchon took advantage of some terrible Chief penalties. TWO too many men penalties and a tripping call to Cory the goon. The tough refs, Terry and Tommy were not letting anything slide on their clock! The score was soon 3-2 Inchon.
The Chiefs did not give up~ The hand went to the ear and the forearm started shaking to signify "Rowe-Mania" !!! Trevor Rowe, let off a beauty shot on the right wing to tie the game up with less than 5 minutes remaining.
With another penalty to the Chiefs, we held them off and we settled with a 3 all score. A disappointing game in a way but we did have strong moments. The penalties killed us, but we didn't loose.

Presenting: The Daegu, Pot of Gold Challenge

Chiefs!

Remember that trip to Daegu last November? Well, it's time for another! We're looking for a win but most importantly, a good time.

The KTX will be departing for Daegu on March 16th around 8-9pm. It takes us an hour to get down there and we'll be staying at the Crown Tourist Hotel. The hockey game is on Saturday the 17th at 9pm and we'll be coming back around 2 or 3 pm on Sunday. If you cannot make it Friday and you want to come Saturday you'll have to book your own ticket.

The Daegu Thunderbirds, will be making a small trophy for this game and we'll hopefully be able to add to the hardware at the Rocky Mountain Tavern. We hope to make this a tradition around St.Patrick's day every year. Along the way we may even be able to add more teams. This time around it will be called, "The First Annual, Pot of Gold Challenge" between The Daegu Thunderbirds and the RMT Chiefs.

There is no limit to the amount of people who come, but there is a limit for the game roster. Let me know as soon as you know. The best way to book your spot is through emailing rmtchiefs@gmail.com Let us know your needs: KTX, Hotel, player?

BEER BOWLING BASH !! ='s Good Times

Well this past Saturday the Chiefs assembled at the Hanam Bowling lanes for a very close bowling match. Three teams of four competed for a free dinner and it was a close battle.

The winning team was built of T-bone,MiYoung,Kim Brophy, and Lee Wong. At a very close second was Jeremy Sands, Terry "wrong hand" Clark, Ben, and Cory. The third team, with top single score was, Rene "Munson" Bouche,Elaine,Gabe,and Big D. Late entries were Joakim,Karl and Moah.

After the bowling we went off to "Mapo Galbi" where we ate in tight quarters, but had some good food and of course the "green lady" soju, was there.

Post dinner was spent at Woodstock where madness ensued...Good times ladies and gents. Good times! For a lot of you that will be the last party with Rene. From the Chiefs, we wish he and his wife all the best back in Canada.
