Let the Games Begin

The Second Annual Vasquez Fall Tournament

is

NOW OPEN!!
LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!!

With no more shinny ice times this week, The Vasquez Tourney is officially under way. The first game, scheduled for this Sunday at 9a.m., will pin the Mok-Dong Manglers against the Tomahawks. The Manglers will be sporting Blood Red as they will be the home team on Sunday. The Tomahawks will therefore be wearing Whites. Following that game the Manglers (again in Red) will face-off against the Sweaty Tacos (in White) at 1030a.m.

A few points to be noted, there have been a few changes in the game format.

1. Each game will consist of 2 thirty minutes periods (run-time) and one 5 minute overtime period. We wanted to have 3 twenty minute periods but the games would be too tight. The 2 periods will allow us 20 minutes for the Zamboni and the warm-up. So the game schedules will go as follows

Game 1

  • 9:00~9:20 Zamboni and warm-up
  • 9:20~9:50 1st Period
  • 9:50~9:53 1st Intermission
  • 9:53~10:23 2nd Period
  • 10:23~10:25 OT Intermission (if necessary)
  • 10:25~10:30 Overtime (if necessary)

Game 2

  • 10:30~10:50 Zamboni and warm-up
  • 10:50~11:20 1st Period
  • 11:20~11:23 1st Intermission
  • 11:23~11:53 2nd Period
  • 11:53~11:55 OT Intermission (if necessary)
  • 11:55~12:00 Overtime (if necessary)

2. There will be NO RED LINE which means that two line passes will be allowed.

3. All the other rules that apply to normal games will apply here.

4. We are asking that every team has a captain and two assistants because we dont want everyone talking/screaming at Jeremy. Its not official or anything but we want to give Jeremy the power to kick people out of the game if they abuse him verbally.

5. Fighting gets you kicked out of the tourney

6. Can't think of much else so....

GO GET YA'SELF PSYCHED cOz WE ABT TO GIT IT OOOOOOOON!!!

Tomahawks down 3 guys now. Why is he out?

they pulled a last minute business trip on him...he is pissed and he says: "I feel shame" for having to back out of the tourney. sux

so that's two sure outs in Marc and Louis and two possible outs in Aaron Allinson and Bill

oh and Grigory. so that's 3 outs and 2 on the fence

What's the contingency plan for guys that are out like that??? Do we have a spare list to go to? Three guys out for the Tommyhawks, and two guys out for the Manglers is a lot.

As of now only grigory, marc and louis are out. Bill and Aaron have not said that they won't play. As of right now, they should be there come Sunday.

We'll see how bad this gets but as of right now we do not plan on adding any players to this tourney. Once the teams have been drafted the rosters cannot be changed. We have tried to add players after the fact in past tourneys and all it has done is unbalanced the teams.

Something I thought of Seabass, How many dressing rooms are we going to have? It won't leave for a lot of room if we need to change in one of the dressing rooms used by the Hawks and The Manglers while they're on the ice. Just a thought? The 2nd team won't know what dressing room the team that they're going to play (in our instance Rene's team) and obviously don't want to change in the same room as them.

Good point Big D. I would think you should come down to the ice surface, and ask the Tommyhawks which room they're using, so that you could change there. We wouldn't want two teams to be changing in the same dressing room when there's another one sitting empty. Unless there's a third dressing room for us, eh, Seabass?
Rene "Give me Room" Boucher.

From past experience I would say that we should have two rooms at our disposal (of course we could only have one, who knows). If we are given two, the home team will have one room and the road teams will share the other room.

Guess logic prevails eh? I was just thinking that for the 1st time in History they would give us 3 dressing rooms ha ha.. who knows.. maybe if you whistle at the Ajoshi like he whistles at us we maybe in business. I'm going to leave that one for Rene's team.. they seem to be the perfect ones to do it.

Logic prevails once again. Unfortunately, since we're in Korea, we often don't understand their logic. Three dressing rooms? I think you're more deluded than I am!!!

I think we should have a post with all of rene's nicknames

well, AARON A> and BILL are both in for the tourney. The chiefs doctors have worked their magic and called in the message therapists and cured all ailments.

The Manglers will reign!!!! Bill's back in the fold, so all is good in the hockey world! Now, if we could only get Grigory...
Rene "Hmmmmm..." Boucher.

If you add the 18 goals Grigory would have scored had he been here, the score would have been much closer!

always making excuses.. Rene "The Excuse Maker" Boucher sometimes I wonder.. next time you shouldn't wear a jersey. When you wore it forwards you lost 11-3 and when you wore it bacwards you lost 11-7. Either way it's 22 goals you let in.. it might help deepen that tan that i'm sure has formed on your back from being exposed to so much red light..

As long as YOU didn't score any goals, I'm happy! Ha, ha, ha! I'm just trying to keep Big D off the score sheet!

The tournament isn't over yet! I was sick on Sunday! (not making excuses but food poisioning does take a bite out of your step) Keep your eye on #64 you never know when it'll pop up.

I'm keeping an eye on you for sure! When there's a large shadow in front of me, I know I have to give it that extra effort! Ha, ha, ha!!!

sands here. checked a couple of rules out on nhl.com. the fact of the matter is, i don't know every single rule there is and i want to do a good job for you boys. rule #55 falling on the puck: "A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player other than the goalkeeper who deliberately falls on or gathers the puck into his body." rule #61 high sticking: " If a territorial advantage is gained by the offending Team, the ensuing face-off will be where the high-stick occurred. If a territorial disadvantage occurs to the offending Team, the ensuing face-off will be where the puck is touched." and it continues "When either Team is below the numerical strength of its opponent and a player of the Team of greater numerical strength causes a stoppage of play by striking the puck with his stick above the height of his shoulder, the resulting face-off shall be made at one of the end zone face-off spots adjacent to the goal of the Team causing the stoppage." i was a bit confused on where that face off should be the last game when this incident occured, and it was my fault for taking it all the way down to the offending end during even strength. anyway...good luck to you all sunday and no hard feelins, eh?

-sands- (who'd much rather be playing than doing this gig by the way...ha ha)
